Holy Warrior Build Guide

The Holy Warrior is Shadow Dungeon’s melee fighter. Official Steam copy: wield dual blades. OO Cat’s showcase video titles the same kit Paladin in some locales; on this wiki the store English name is Holy Warrior. Version 1.0 (August 26, 2026) ships four classes, twelve talent trees, and more than 370 skills. Each class has exactly three trees. This page will not invent tree brand names (no Blitz, Edge, Vigor) or skill product names (no Blade Flurry, Execute, Blood Pact, Vital Strike). Watch the official Paladin gameplay and skill tree showcase and read in-game node text for real labels.

You cannot change class after creation. The game is single-player with no microtransactions and no co-op backup in the pile. Live patch 1.0.1 (August 27, 2026) fixed transformation skill points and pinnacle talents that failed to clear after a respec. Update before you rebuild.

How the class is meant to play

Dual blades means you stand in telegraphs. You trade the Sorcerer’s spacing and the Archer’s precision for being in the pack. Version 1.0 added mouse movement, controller automatic target acquisition and automatic attacks, and per-skill intelligent targeting. Those tools still matter in melee: auto-target helps you stick a priority elite instead of swinging at air. Pair this page with Combat and Controls and Settings.

The campaign is seven chapters and over 160 maps, about 30–50 hours, finishing near level 99–100. Monster levels and drops follow the map, not your character level. See Leveling. A life-steal fantasy you invent in a guide does not downscale a later map. Play the maps in front of you.

Three talent trees around dual blades

All three trees support dual-blade melee: faster strings, harder hits, staying alive in the pile. The client names the nodes. This wiki will not assign unofficial titles. Put early points into one tree until a usable rotation exists, then open a second tree when map-tied bosses demand a different tool. Unlimited skill points over a long character is the 1.0 pitch. Hybrids mean mixing your three trees. See Talent Trees and Hybrid Builds.

Steam Deck skill panel: A adds one point, X maxes the selected skill, Y maxes the skill and its sub-skills.

Gear and sustain without fan numbers

Each class has 15 armor sets, many of which alter skill forms. That is the official way the melee kit stays interesting for 160 maps. Version 1.0 added 1,000-plus weapon affixes in five categories and about 2,400 weapon-granted skills. Evaluate dual-blade drops for skill grants that match how you already fight, not for an invented 15–20% life-steal table. See Legendary Gear and Armor Sets.

Treasure Sprites keep the floor clean. Patch 1.0.1 increased fairy speed and fixed auto-salvage. Buff potions fire from a single button in 1.0; save them for bosses, not every trash pack. Gems and Shrines cover seventeen Blessing Shrines, gems, and rare permanent elixirs without invented shrine names.

After the story, Greater Rifts (Normal through Inferno) improve rare odds and affix rolls. Socket runes there. At 100, climb Paragon. Melee still eats Inferno telegraphs; Paragon is attributes, not a free pass to stand in every slam.

First hours

Hour one: create the character and learn how dual blades feel on opening dungeon maps. If you hate being in melee, stop and roll a ranged class. Hours two to five: fill one tree until the kit has a rhythm. Hours five to ten: you should know whether dual blades sticks. If not, a new save is cheaper than forcing a class you cannot change.

Official environments on the way to the Demon Lord include dungeons, ancient temples, scorching deserts, haunted ruins, realms beyond reality, and hell. The Chapter Walkthrough routes biomes without fake chapter subtitles. Boss Strategies covers telegraphs for 60-plus bosses without invented guardian names.

What this guide will not claim

  • No official ranking that Holy Warrior is the best solo class. The tier list is launch-week opinion on 1.0.1.
  • No party content. There is no co-op.
  • No life-steal reduction mechanic published in Steam news. Do not plan around a fan debuff.
  • No premium sustain pass.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Shadow Dungeon.

Is Holy Warrior the same as Paladin in Shadow Dungeon?

The English store lists Holy Warrior with dual blades. OO Cat's skill-tree video uses Paladin in the title. Same class, different locale wording. Use in-game labels.

What is the best Holy Warrior tree for beginners?

There is no official beginner tree. Invest in one of your three dual-blade trees until a rotation exists, then open a second tree when maps demand it. Watch the official Paladin showcase for real node names.

Can I respec a Holy Warrior?

Yes. Patch 1.0.1 fixed pinnacle talents not clearing after a respec. You cannot change class. Paragon after 100 is an extra attribute tree.

Does Holy Warrior have published life-steal percentages?

No Steam news post publishes a 15–20% leech table. Sustain comes from talents, sets that alter skill forms, and potions. Read the client.

Is Holy Warrior good for Greater Rifts?

Melee works on Normal through Inferno if you respect telegraphs. Higher rift difficulties improve loot odds, not a free melee pass. Socket rift runes after the story.
